William Boartfield supports expanding publicly owned utility cooperatives as a free market alternative in Louisiana. If elected District 1 Commissioner, Mr. Boartfield has vowed to fight for realistic alternatives to monopolistic privately-owned utility companies like Entergy and CLECO.
Public Utilities
William Boartfield supports expanding fiberoptic internet access to rural Louisiana via publicly owned cooperatives. It is crucial that we not build the network for private internet providers to take over. Instead we need to give more power to local municipalities to start or expand their public utility services.
Rural Fiberoptic Internet
William Boartfield, if elected, would bring much needed transparency to the State Public Service Commission. For too long the state commission has been giving favorable treatment to private utilities like Entergy and CLECO. In return, they get money in their reelection account so they can spend up to $300,000 just to keep a $45,000 a year job.
Transparency
William Boartfield will advocate for tax breaks and grants to citizens who want to produce their own electricity via solar panels. William also supports any excess electricity being sold back to the grid at regular rates.
Net Metering
William Boartfield supports deregulating the electric market to allow ethical free market competition to come compete on the producer side of the electric market.
